Continuing Education


NESTTD events are co-sponsored by The New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation (NESTTD ) and The Institute for Continuing Education. Continuing education credit is offered as described below.


Psychology: The Institute for Continuing Education is an organization approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education to psychologists. The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Unless otherwise stated in publicity materials:  Programs that offer 3 hours of instructional time provide 3 CE hours, i.e. half-day workshops or our intensives.  Programs that offer 6 hours of instructional time provide 6 CE hours, i.e. all-day programs. No partial credit is given.  Attendance for entire program is required.


Social Work:  The Institute for Continuing Education, Provider No. 1007, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) through the Approved Continuing Education program (ACE). The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 4-13-2018 to 4-13-2021. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits.  Unless otherwise stated in publicity materials:  Programs that offer 3 hours of instructional time provide 3 CE hours, i.e. half day workshops or our intensives.  Programs that offer 6 hours of instructional time provide 6 CE hours, i.e. all-day programs.  No partial credit is given.  Attendance for entire program is required.


Counseling:  The Institute for Continuing Education will submit a co-sponsorship application to  the National  Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC ) so  counselors can obtain CEs at each of our eventsIf and when each program is approved by NBCC, that approval will be posted here. Until we receive  NBCC approval  for an  event, LMHCs cannot assume they are eligible for CEs for it.


PLEASE NOTE: LMHCs will NOT be able to obtain CEs for the Friday Afternoon Series programs. CEs available for social workers and psychologists. Nancy Napier Programs (Oct. 20, 2018): NBCC has given approval of both the morning and intensive (afternoon) presentations by Nancy Napier MA, LMFT. The Institute for Continuing Education and the New England Society for Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation (NESTTD) are co-sponsors of this program.  This co-sponsorship has been approved by NBCC. The Institute for Continuing is an NBCC-approved continuing education provider, No. 5643.  The Institute for Continuing Education is solely responsible for this program, including the awarding of NBCC credit.


Diane Poole Heller Program (Dec. 1, 2018): NBCC has given approval of the all-day program by Diane Poole Heller, PhD. The Institute for Continuing Education and the New England Society for Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation (NESTTD) are co-sponsors of this program.  This co-sponsorship has been approved by NBCC. The Institute for Continuing is an NBCC-approved continuing education provider, No. 5643.  The Institute for Continuing Education is solely responsible for this program, including the awarding of NBCC credit.


Marriage/Family Therapy:  Programs have not been pre-approved for Massachusetts/Rhode Island MFTs.


Nursing:  The Institute for Continuing Education is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the California Board of Nursing, Provider No. CEP 12646. Nurses are responsible for contacting their state boards to determine if credit issued through an approved provider of the California Board of Nursing is acceptable for credit by their state board.

Unless otherwise stated in publicity materials, half-day programs  (either morning workshops or our Intensives ) offer 3.00 contact hours; all-day programs offer 6.00 contact hours.

 No  partial credit is given; i.e. attendance  for entire program is required.


 All Continuing Education Applicants, please note:


To receive continuing education credit, attendees must:


1) Pay a separate CE fee either online or at registration at the event.


2) Obtain application forms on site at registration tables.


3) Sign IN at start of program/ Sign OUT at end of program.


4) At the end of the program, return completed CE  application and evaluation of training forms to registration tables.

It is the responsibility of attendees to check with their licensing board to determine if CE credit offered by The Institute meets the regulations of their board.
