NEW ENGLAND SOCIETY FOR THE TREATMENT
OF TRAUMA AND DISSOCIATION
ONLINE REGISTRATION HAS ENDED; WALK-INS ARE WELCOME
What is Complex PTSD? What is Dissociation? How are these diagnoses made? How is the treatment frame established? What does the overall treatment look like? How do I handle crises? Trauma survivors often present with complicated clinical pictures. Because of their often tenuous ability to connect with clinicians, it is frequently difficult to understand their symptoms. In this workshop the nature of dissociation and the ways to assess it will be addressed. It will include an overview of the treatment and ways to establish a secure yet flexible treatment frame.
This workshop is intended for clinicians who are just beginning to understand the nature of complex PTSD and dissociation. This workshop is designed to deepen clinicians’ skills in recognizing and working with trauma survivors’ symptoms. We will look at complex PTSD, the continuum of dissociative processes and dissociative disorders, at issues related to somatic and affect regulation, at the therapeutic relationship, and at ways of working with parts and with triggers. The workshop will combine didactic and experiential learning. Participants will leave with concrete “how to’s” for helping clients understand, work with, and begin to transform their symptoms.
