your agency or organization
An Introductory Two Hour Training in
The Treatment of Dissociation in Clients with
Complex Post-Traumatic-Stress and Dissociative Disorders.
The training addresses:
- The etiology of trauma-based dissociation
- Tools for assessing current dissociation in clients
- An overview of treatment strategies for working with a wide spectrum of dissociative clients
The cost of the training is $250 for non-profit organizations; $350 for private organizations
Agencies interested in offering the introductory training on trauma and dissociation to their clinicians can email Michele Hart.
Information about the training:
Many clients with chronic trauma histories present with
difficult to treat patterns of thinking and behavior. These are often the
result of early adaptive defenses of dissociation in response to experiences of
overwhelming, extreme stress. Dissociative symptoms are often misunderstood by
both clients and clinicians and feel very difficult to change. NESTTD is
committed to educating clinicians about dissociative disorders so that they can
help clients whose dissociative processes have intruded on their capacities to
regulate behaviors and create secure attachment relationships.
In recognition of the widespread presence of dissociation
in many agency clients and the challenges of treating this complex disorder,
NESTTD has created a two-hour introductory training on understanding and
treating complex trauma and dissociative disorders. This training is available to be presented on
site to agencies and groups of professionals interested in better serving
clients with significant trauma histories.
The training is taught by one of several senior
clinicians who have extensive experience in both treating and teaching about
dissociation.
The training has been given in many hospitals, mental
health and health centers, and social service agencies. Some of these agencies
have asked for a second, more advanced training, as well as ongoing staff
consultation as a result of their positive responses to the introductory
training.
The training includes an informative power-point
presentation on recognizing, assessing, and treating complex trauma and
dissociative disorders; a packet of tools for stabilizing clients who are
dysregulated by dissociative symptoms, and an extensive bibliography.
Trainers can be
available for additional consultation to agency staff upon request.
